This mediated access provides users with a preview of the ebook to allow the user to determine if a particular title would be useful as part of the UTAS library collection. If a user deems  a title valuable they may request that the library purchases this title. However, until a librarian reviews your suggested purchase, the user is unable to continue reading the title.

What does this mean for you?

• The catalogue now contains the same titles that are on the ejournals page. You will be able to view which titles we have electronically and in print from one location (catalogue).
• EzProxy needs will be more easily identified, resulting in less access errors.

Due to EzProxy being a manual task – and with the high number of new titles – it will take us some time to identify all the records for EzProxy. If we have not EzProxyied a journal you will see an error message that includes the word ‘EzProxy’. Please report these issues to the librarians and we will arrange to correct them immediately.

These ebooks can be accessed in two ways:

1. Directly from the library catalogue; or
2. From the library’s databases page under E for EBL.

What does this mean? It means you will have greater access to electronic information. It is important to note that some titles have immediate complete access to the ebook (fully accessible and loanable), the other titles are mediated access upon request – this means that the titles can be browsed for 5 minutes and can be recommended for purchase. This will help the  library to determine what you, our users, require from our academic resources in the library collection.

MyPages will enable you, as a user, to customise these pages with the content you use most frequently for your day to day research.

It is a completely customisable tool which will allow you to:

1. Create your own customised email alert – by selecting the categories and geographies you are interested in, you will receive an e-alert keeping you up to date with the latest developments.
2. Sign up to our RSS News feed – receive timely updates on new content viewable via iGoogle, Outlook etc. from your customised content.
3. My Home Page - view all your customised content in one place, along with your latest saved searches. Add your preferred landing pages to your My Home page using the Favourites function (the star) for faster access to the main pages you use the most.
4. Saved Research – save your research and queries if you are in a hurry and need to access them later or to share with your colleagues

To be able to take advantage of this new feature the only time you will need to register your details is the next time you click on the Passport GMID link on your library resources page.

Click on New Users Register here to create your own personal profile. If you have already created your own profile, enter your log-in details and you will be prompted to update your details with your university-issued email address and you will then be able to activate your MyPages.

MyPages is your unique homepage where you can manage the content which interests you the most, keeping you up to date with relevant updates, faster access to content enhancing your user experience and knowledge of the database.
